In 2010, Ellsbury released a Zinfandel wine called ZinfandEllsbury through Charity Wines with 100% of his proceeds donated across three charities: The Navajo Relief Fund, Project Bread: The Walk for Hunger, and Ellsbury Read Project. The wine launched alongside a charity wine by Boston Red Sox teammate Josh Beckett, called Chardon-K.Ellsbury was one of the victims of the $8 billion dollar fraud perpetrated by wealth manager Sir Allen Stanford;[33] although Ellsbury had some assets frozen, it did not cause him any significant hardship, like those suffered by Johnny Damon and Xavier Nady.On May 28, Ellsbury was put back on the 15-day DL after playing in only three games for the Red Sox due to soreness in his left ribs left over from colliding with teammate Adri?n Beltré. He met with a thoracic specialist who advised him that his ribs should be further along in the healing process before he would be able to play. Of his return to the DL, Ellsbury commented, "I tried to play with a level of discomfort, knowing that I wasn't 100 percent, and doing so worsened my condition." There is no current ti****ble for his return. [32] On June 10th it was announced that Ellsbury's condition had worsened and that he would be out for at least another two weeks.
